Ride Route

Aluva → Athirapilly → Kadamakudy → Fort Kochi → Alappuzha → Kumarakom → Cochin Airport — a point-to-point trail from the Western Ghats' waterfalls down through backwater villages to the coast.

Description

Kerala doesn't do one landscape — it does three, back to back, and this ride takes you through all of them on two wheels. A climb into the spray off Athirapilly's waterfalls, open water-side roads through Kadamakudy and Fort Kochi, a flat coastal run to Alappuzha's beaches, and a full day on a Kumarakom houseboat to close it out.

This is Speaking Wheels' first Kerala tour, run in partnership with Rent Your Adventure ("Fueling Your Adventure"), Kochi — who handle the bikes, support vehicle, and on-ground logistics across all four riding days. Edition 1 is a small, Tribe-only group, bookended by a bike-fit day in Aluva and a backwater rest day in Kumarakom.

Two days ask more of you than the rest — Day 1's climb into Athirapilly and Day 2's 83 km run are the demanding stretches, so this edition suits riders with some distance already in their legs rather than a first-ever long tour. The pace throughout stays social, not competitive.

Day by Day

1. 6 Dec — Arrive: Cochin → Aluva. Land at COK, transfer near Aluva, full bike assembly and fit checks, route briefing and safety protocol for Days 1–4.
2. 7 Dec — Ride: Aluva → Athirapilly. ~45 km, ~900 m climb. Flag-off 6:15 AM via Ezhattumugham, sightseeing stop, evening at the falls.
3. 8 Dec — Ride: Athirapilly → Kadamakudy → Fort Kochi. ~83 km, net descent. Kayaking and a paddy-field visit at Kadamakudy, evening on Fort Kochi's heritage streets.
4. 9 Dec — Ride: Fort Kochi → Alappuzha. ~65 km via Chengaram Wetlands and Marari Beach — flat coastal road, rest of the day at Alappuzha beach.
5. 10 Dec — Ride: Alappuzha → Kumarakom. ~35 km through village roads, then a full rest day on the Kumarakom houseboat with a guided village tour and optional Ayurvedic massage.
6. 11 Dec — Depart: Kumarakom → Cochin Airport. Vehicle transfer, bike pack-up and checkout.
