Cycling club in Pune: your questions answered
Easy-paced group rides, curated tours and 100+ riding friends. Here’s how Speaking Wheels works.

Getting started
Is Speaking Wheels a good cycling club for beginners in Pune?
Yes. Our rides are easy-paced and planned around food, culture and the view, never the clock. Every ride page lists the distance and a difficulty level, from Easy / Beginner up to Moderate to Difficult, and nobody gets left behind.
I haven’t cycled in years. Can I still join?
Absolutely. Many of our riders came back to cycling after a long break. Start with an easy day ride and take it from there.
Who rides with Speaking Wheels?
Over 100 Tribe members from all walks of life: a healthy mix of men and women, with an average age of 45.
Can I try a ride before becoming a member?
Yes. Most rides are open to everyone at the non-member price. Pick one from the ride calendar.
Is there a minimum age?
Yes, riders must be 21 or older.
Rides around Pune
What kinds of rides do you run?
A weekly Wednesday meetup at Sambar for coffee and breakfast, early-morning day rides into the Western Ghats and Mulshi countryside, multi-day tours across India, women’s specials and bike maintenance workshops.
Where and when do rides start?
It depends on the ride: each ride page gives the meeting point and time. Day rides start and end in Pune, usually early in the morning. Several tours start at the destination (the Temple Tiger Trail starts in Khajuraho), so riders from elsewhere in Maharashtra can join those too.
How much does a ride cost?
It varies by ride, and each ride page shows the price. Tribe members pay less on most rides.
Are there women-only rides?
Yes, we run women’s specials.
Do I need my own bike?
For most rides, yes: any well-maintained cycle works for our easy-paced rides. Some tours offer a rental cycle with a helmet; the ride page says so. Helmets are compulsory on every ride, and lights are required on night rides.
Cycling tours
Do you run cycling tours from Pune?
Yes. Our signature tours run in repeat editions: The Vino Velo, a wine hop through Nashik’s wine country; the Temple Tiger Trail around Khajuraho and Panna; The Bajirao, from Dubere in Maharashtra to Raverkhedi in Madhya Pradesh; and Amba Pawankhind. We’ve also ridden the Rann of Kutch, Assam, Goa, the Konkan, Dandeli and Kerala. See all tours.
What’s included on a tour?
Each tour page lists what’s included. The Temple Tiger Trail, for example, includes 3-star hotels, all meals, a backup vehicle, guided rides and help with punctures.
How much do tours cost?
It depends on the destination and length. The Kerala Inland Expedition, for example, is ₹45,000 for six days, and the Amba Pawankhind Special is ₹9,000 (₹8,000 for Tribe members).
Membership
What is the Tribe?
Our annual membership: ₹2,700 a year, valid for 12 months from the day you pay. It includes two members-only rides, priority booking and member prices on rides and tours, bike maintenance workshops, store discounts, and our members’ Strava club and WhatsApp group. More about the Tribe.
Is membership worth it?
It can pay for itself: members save ₹1,000 on the Amba Pawankhind Special and ₹1,500 on longer tours such as the Rann of Kutch and The Vino Velo.
How do I join?
Apply online. We review every application, then send you a Razorpay link to pay. Once you’ve paid, your membership is active and we add you to the members’ group.
About the club
Is it only about cycling?
Far from it: breakfast and tea stops, wine tastings, workshops and even our own Inter-Tribe cricket tournament.
